MMD INTERVIEWS THE ADORABLE AVA ADDAMS

MMD October 13, 2014 0

Ava Addams has done it all when it comes to the adult industry. She went from Playboy Playmate, to fetish model, to girl/girl performer, to full-fledged hardcore pornstar. It’s not hard to see why Ava has been able to make a good living using her looks as she is absolutely stunning with a body that could grace the cover of any fitness magazine. But Ava’s not just a pretty face, she’s quite the businesswoman as well as she picks and chooses what she will shoot for outside studios and what she will shoot for her own website, increasing demand for her services and leaving her owning all the rights to her most sought after scenes. Mens Mag Daily caught up with the sexy brunette to discuss her time at Playboy, how she got into the business, and why she prefers webcamming to feature dancing.

Mens Mag Daily: Okay Ava, so you’ve been in the business for over 5 years now, right?

Ava Addams: Since 2008 so it’s been a while.

Mens Mag Daily: And before you did hardcore you were in Playboy?

Ava Addams: Yeah, I did Playboy first. I posed for them 10 years ago actually.

av2

Mens Mag Daily: I would imagine there’s a big difference between Playboy and hardcore stuff.

Ava Addams: Oh, for sure. It was definitely gradual for me. I did Playboy. I did fetish. I do solo and girl/girl. And then a year later I did boy/girl so I kind of eased my way into hardcore.

Mens Mag Daily: As you were taking those steps, was each one different than the last?

Ava Addams: Oh yeah, absolutely. I remember when I was first going to pose for Playboy I called my mom and told her and I asked my dad if he’d kill me if I posed for Playboy. (Laughs) I’ve always been really open with them. I did girl/girl for such a long time that when I started doing boy/girl my father told me that he and my mother thought I was a lesbian. (Laughs) My parents aren’t the type to show up with me at the award shows or anything but they do know about what I do. They would rather I still be in the medical field but they still love me and support what I do.

av3

Mens Mag Daily: I think that’s a normal response, to support you from a little bit of a distance.

Ava Addams: Yeah, I mean to each their own but I find it a little strange if your parents are too involved in your porn career. (Laughs)My mom will ask questions about who I worked with and stuff but as far as my dad goes we just don’t talk about it.

Mens Mag Daily: There are a million other things to talk about anyway.

Ava Addams: Yeah exactly. (Laughs)

av4

Mens Mag Daily: Wait, so what did you do in the medical field?

Ava Addams: I did medical billing and coding and I started nursing school while I was doing that but I never finished. I’ll probably be going back to school in January of next year. There are a few courses I have to retake before I can get back into the medical field like my sciences and psychology and sociology. I’m excited about those two because I always liked them but I’m not so excited about redoing my sciences.

Mens Mag Daily: What was it about modeling that attracted you to it? Were you just looking in the mirror one day like, “Hey I’m hot I should be a model.”?

Ava Addams: I modeled on and off for my whole life. I did children’s modeling. My parents were never stage parents so when I did it as a little girl I wanted to quit and they were fine with that. When I was 12 or 13 I got back into it but then in high school I got all Goth and I was like, “Fuck modeling, this is stupid”. Once I was in college people started approaching me about nude modeling and the money was really good so I went for it. It all just kind of progressed from there. The Playboy thing was a total fluke. I went with my girlfriend who was auditioning and I ended up getting it and she didn’t. That was the end of our friendship. She got really mad because I didn’t even want to do it. I ended up doing several pictorials for them and I had a fun relationship with them for a couple of years.

av5

Mens Mag Daily: Did you start to get really well known after you posed for Playboy?

Ava Addams: I was but then I started doing porn and once you start doing porn you’re kind of not welcome in the Playboy Playmate scene anymore. They try to not be associated with porn even though they own lots of porn stuff. They kind of try and distance themselves from it.

Mens Mag Daily: You did a lot of girl/girl stuff. Were you actually into girls?

Ava Addams: Oh yeah, I’ve always loved girls. I met a girl who asked me if I wanted to do girl/girl and the money was good so I said yes. I wasn’t ready for boy/girl at the time so I did girl/girl for a while. I had a boyfriend and once we broke up I decided to do boy/girl.

av6

Mens Mag Daily: Was doing boy/girl the biggest change you’d experienced?

Ava Addams: No I think the biggest change was going from Playboy to girl/girl because that’s when I started having sex on camera. Boy/girl wasn’t as big of a deal because I was already having sex on camera anyway.

Mens Mag Daily: So you had never been with a girl before your first scene?

Ava Addams: Oh no, of course I had. But it was the first time it was going to be on camera for the world to see.

av7

Mens Mag Daily: So when a girl does a scene, she gets paid for the scene, a one-time payment, and that’s it?

Ava Addams: Yeah just one time, the only time we would get residuals is if we actually own the scene. If I do a scene for my website then of course I do but if I just do a company I get paid for a scene and that’s it.

Mens Mag Daily: Does that kind of suck, especially if you know the scene is going to generate a lot of money?

Ava Addams: It does and I think that’s why a lot of people are trying to start their own production companies or build their own websites. If you build your website and you build your brand then that’s money that’s going to be coming in for the rest of your life. There are girls that have quit their sites and still get 2 or 3 thousand every month.

av8

Mens Mag Daily: So you really stay on top of your site and make sure everything is running right?

Ava Addams: I really do. I definitely try and put a lot of effort into my site. I haven’t been camming as much I should though. I’m definitely going to get on top of that though because it helps a lot. I try to shoot for my site pretty regularly. I know that keeping the site up will keep the money coming and that’s important. If you’re lazy, your fans are going to lose interest. You need to keep yourself out there.

Mens Mag Daily: For example, if you were to tweet that you just released a new scene on your site, would you see a major increase in memberships that day?

Ava Addams: It depends what kind of scene it is. For instance if it’s an IR scene which I only shoot for my site and not for anybody else then yes. I like to keep that exclusive to my members and I see a huge increase in sales. Solos not so much but if it’s with a girl they’ve been really wanting to see me with then yes I’ll also see an increase.

av11

Mens Mag Daily: Do you actually interact with your fans when you cam?

Ava Addams: Yeah definitely, I actually enjoy it. A lot of girls prefer to dance. I like camming, I actually enjoy myself. I get to interact with people. I actually used to cam a lot more than I do now. I like it better because it’s from your own home, I can take breaks when I want, and the money comes straight to me. I’ll usually just bullshit with the fans for the first few minutes and they get to interact with me not just on Twitter.

Mens Mag Daily: How important is it to interact with your fans?

Ava Addams: I think it’s very important. Social media has helped and hurt a lot of girls. Some girls are just mean; I see them yell at their fans on Twitter. There are also a lot of girls who have people tweet for them so you’re not always talking to who you think you are. There are a lot of girls that don’t do their own social media. I feel like you can always kind of tell. A lot of girls do take the time to answer their tweets. There are also girls who don’t cam but they’ll do feature dancing and that’s their way of reaching out to their fans.

av14

Mens Mag Daily: Okay Ava, do you have anything coming up that we should be looking out for?

Ava Addams: Okay well there’s always stuff on my website which is http://www.theavaaddams.com/. I’m constantly shooting for all the major companies like Brazzers and Naughty America. My fans can also find me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/AvaAddams. I love interacting with my fans.
