During World War II, the conflict wasn’t fought only on battlefields in Europe, but also on the silver screens in the States. With the war half a world away, the best way to bring the seriousness of the conflict home was through film. So the U.S. packed up five directors and sent them into war zones where they captured the fight and its aftermath for the citizens back home.
