Simone
Mens Mag Daily: So Simone, when did you shoot your first scene?
Simone Sonay: I shot my first scene when I was 40 years old actually.
Mens Mag Daily: And how long ago was that?
Simone Sonay: That was two years ago, yeah two years.
Mens Mag Daily: Oh, so you’re relatively new to the adult industry?
Simone Sonay: It’s funny because a lot of people don’t stick around so two years really does feel like a lot longer but I guess you could say I’m fairly new.
Mens Mag Daily: What did you do before you got into the adult industry?
Simone Sonay: I was an office manager for an economic consulting firm. I worked there for a while and I was fired when they found out I was doing porn. I was always kind of in that office manager niche in an executive environment. Porn was my part-time job. It still is my part time job. I recruit talent for Kink.Com and do a little modeling on the side.
Mens Mag Daily: How did they find out at your job that you were doing porn?
Simone Sonay: I would say Twitter helped with that. Twitter just suggested me to the wrong person.
Mens Mag Daily: Do you think it was beneficial for you starting porn later on in life?
Simone Sonay: In my experience, I find that if I would have done this at a younger age I would have had a great time and I would have loved it and everything but being a little older now I really enjoy sex. I know who I am and I know what I want. I think it would have gone to my head a little more if I had done it at a younger age. That’s just me. There are girls who are 18 and they’re just rock stars right out of the gate. For me, sex is like a learning experience so through all my sexual experiences I’ve learned what it is that I really enjoy. It was beneficial and it was right on time. I believe there are some things I wouldn’t have been able to fully comprehend had I entered the business in my late teens or early twenties.
Mens Mag Daily: You went a lot of years without doing porn. When you started, was it a big lifestyle change?
Simone Sonay: It was a steady progression getting to the point where I am now in terms of sexuality. I started having sex at a really young age. I was watching interracial gangbang porn by the time I was 20. It was almost like opening Pandora’s Box.
Mens Mag Daily: What do you attribute your success in this business to?
Simone Sonay: I really enjoy what I do and I think that translates. I think it’s easy for the watcher to develop kind of a connection. I know when I watch porn there’s nothing better for me than seeing a girl who’s really into what she’s doing, when she’s not just there for the paycheck but because she enjoys the sex. That is so important. I don’t know for sure but I think that’s the biggest reason.
Mens Mag Daily: You’re a talent recruiter for Kink.Com. What is that like?
Simone Sonay: It’s super fun but it’s definitely more involved than I thought it would be. My job is to recruit talent and I think the fact that I do porn really helps a lot because I can tell her exactly what to expect. A lot of people are a little scared of Kink.Com because our end product looks different from other stuff obviously and it’s hard work. It takes all day to make a 45 minute scene. I look for people who are versatile and open minded to trying new things. I interview them and see what they’re into sexually, what they would like to try sexually, and we take naked pictures of them so I can pitch them to the directors. I like real talent. Not just anybody will do. You really have to have something great going on. I like girls that can really be open minded and that can be like finding a needle in a haystack. As far as looks go, there’s no set standard or anything but we do want good looking people who take care of themselves. At the end of the day, the product has to be aesthetically pleasing.
Mens Mag Daily: Do you have any scenes that always stick out in your mind as your favorites?
Simone Sonay: Oh absolutely, it was actually one of the scenes that I ever did. It was a gangbang and I was playing the hot single mom and all of my son’s friends were over at the house and they kept telling him, “Dude, we’re gonna fuck your mom”. At that point it was like I wasn’t really aware of all the cameras and lights and everything yet so I was just enjoying myself to the fullest. It was really just a great fucking shoot. Everything is a little different now. I know how I need to position my body so the camera can get everything. It’s not that it’s tainted but it’s got that aspect of me always being aware of the production. It doesn’t change the product but I’m not as able to let go as much as I could when I was brand new to the business. It’s kind of hard to articulate but it’s harder to get that off camera effect.
Mens Mag Daily: How does your personal sex life compare to your on screen sex life?
Simone Sonay: I actually don’t have a partner so my on camera sex is the only sex that I’m having. (Laughs) I would obviously love to find a partner that I could have similar experiences with only without all the cameras around because it just makes it more fun. Back when I was married, I actually felt like I had to hold back what I thought other people would think is sick like interracial gangbang porn. I loved it but I didn’t think he would get it. I was afraid to let people know that’s what I want into. It’s a prerequisite for me now that my partner has to be open to the things that I like. I definitely don’t want to have to hold anything back.
Mens Mag Daily: Okay Simone, so tell us what you have coming up and where your fans can reach out to you.
Simone Sonay: I’m so busy, I’ve only actually been shooting maybe two or three times a month but I do have stuff coming out. I just shot a boy/boy/girl scene for a company in Los Angeles and I’ve worked with both of the guys, they’re awesome. My job at Kink.Com is taking up so much of my time and focus right now but there’s still some porn coming. My Twitter is https://twitter.com/SimoneSonay.
