Corissa Furr may be a small town girl but she sure doesn’t look like one which is probably why she heard Los Angeles calling while she was working a 9 to 5 job in the town she grew up in Maryland. Since she made the West Coast her home, she’s graced the pages of Maxim and FHM and was featured on the hit TV show Entourage, and that’s just to name a few projects she’s been involved in. With her stunning looks and girl next door charm, Corissa shows no signs of slowing down and we can expect to see big things from her in the future. Mens Mag Daily caught up with Corissa to discuss how she got into modeling, her exotic good looks, and of course, how a guy should approach her.
Mens
Corissa Furr: Life was pretty normal and what you would expect it to be in a small town. I had a normal 9-5 job and still hung out with all my friends from high school. That was pretty much it, go to work and go home. I mean, that’s still kind of what it’s like except the “go to work” part is much more fun. Well, and the “go home” part too because now I live near the beach in beautiful Southern California.
Mens Mag Daily: How did you decide you wanted to be a model and actress? When you moved to LA to pursue your dream was it planned or did you just kind of go?
Corissa Furr: I kind of fell into it. I was never that girl that always wanted to be a model and pursued it her whole life. I did a photo shoot by chance just being there with my girlfriend who was shooting. I did a few more shoots and then one of my photos landed in FHM Magazine. That was back when FHM was still in print and on newsstands, it was really popular. Most guys I knew were reading it. I was just so thrilled and honored to be featured in a national publication like that and I was like, “Hey, maybe I could actually do something with this modeling stuff.”
I started doing national tours like Hot Import Nights, traveling to a different city every weekend. Then somebody put a mic in my hand and said “You’re going to host on stage and do some TV interviews.” I literally had no experience or even preparation but I just went with it and I was just myself and it was so great. I had fun with it and everyone loved it and said I seemed to just be a natural at talking on camera. I started interviewing all the celebrities and performers we had at all our events. That’s how I knew I wanted to pursue TV hosting or broadcasting.
The move to California was somewhat always planned. I knew at a younger age that I did not want to stay in Maryland for my whole life but I didn’t make the decision that it was going to be California until probably about 5 years into my modeling career. I was traveling back and forth to LA at least once a month for gigs and sometimes even had to turn down some really great opportunities just because I was in Maryland and couldn’t make it out to LA so that’s when I kind of said, “That’s it, if I don’t do it now, I will never do it and I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.” I packed up my stuff, donated most of my belongings to the local orphanage, grabbed my girlfriend who just went through a tough breakup, and said “Come on, we’re driving across country to live the dream!” (Laughs) It sounds kind of cliché but that’s what happened and I think it’s pretty awesome that we did that. It was the best decision ever. I couldn’t be happier now.
Mens Mag Daily: You’re very exotic looking, I feel like I find something new in every pic of you. What is your nationality?
Corissa Furr: To my knowledge, I am German and Irish but I have never gone back to do my whole family tree and that’s something I’d like to do one day. A lot of people are perplexed by my look and find it ambiguous and try to guess all kinds of different ethnicities. I’m like “I don’t know. As far as I know I’m just a white girl.” (Laughs)
Mens Mag Daily: You’ve been on Entourage. You’ve been in Maxim. What is it like being involved in such big projects?
Corissa Furr: I have the most amazing, thrilling and rewarding job. When you get to be involved in big projects like those it’s such an honor because there really are so many beautiful women in this world. It’s definitely something to be proud of. But I also think to myself, “Well, I must have done something right.” I’ve put in a lot of hard work and always tried to keep a level head. If you stay true to yourself, stay focused and work hard, good things will come no matter what. Working on those sets are so much fun. You asked what it’s like to work on those sets. It’s like just hanging out with awesome people and then in between everyone is serious for a few minutes to film. The cast and crew of Entourage were always so fun, one of my favorite sets to work on. I just literally can’t believe it’s my job sometimes.
Mens Mag Daily: Which do you prefer, acting or modeling?
Corissa Furr: It’s hard to say. That’s what I love about what I do. It’s always something different and it never gets boring. One day I’m shooting a bikini catalog, the next day I’m on the race track for Pirelli, and then the next day who knows? I might be working for an electronics company. I would say that I do enjoy hosting the most, doing interviews and playing more of a journalistic role. I like it more than acting because I’ve never been good at “getting into character”; the “me” just always comes out. (Laughs) So why not just be a host where I can always just be me? It’s fun to ad lib during interviews, put your own questions and thoughts out there. I hope to start a show on my YouTube channel soon.
Mens Mag Daily: It seems like there are so many models today, what do you think it is that makes you stand out?
Corissa Furr: My personality and professionalism, I think that people can tell I am very genuine with my personality when they meet me. I am very confident and well-spoken and I’m never trying to be someone else. What you see is what you get and if you don’t like it, well then we both move on and go our separate ways in the world. I am also very professional and very thorough when it comes to jobs. I hate nothing more than being late. And sometimes I work for companies speaking about their product and the audience or show members think I’m an actual employee, or developed the product myself instead of a hired model. Clients like that.
Mens Mag Daily: What would you say is your best physical attribute?
Corissa Furr: I think probably my eyes. I’ve been told they can be quite captivating.
Mens Mag Daily: You’re one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen so my readers would be upset if I didn’t ask you, what is your type of guy?
Corissa Furr: Thank you, that’s very nice of you to say! This question is always asked and guys always want to know exactly what “type” we are looking for. I feel like if you’re reading deep into a magazine interview to learn how to get a chick that’s trying too hard. Confidence is first and it needs to be organic, real confidence in who you are and chivalry goes a long way. Trust me, us women love to be courted.
Mens Mag Daily: If a guy wants to get to know you, what approach should he take?
Corissa Furr: Just be cool and normal. Don’t come off right away like you’re trying to hit on me or take me out, don’t be too aggressive. Maybe just strike up a normal, casual conversation and then if you feel a connection off of that and her interest then maybe ask her out. Some dudes walk up the second they first lay eyes on you and say stuff like “Oh my god, who are you, you have to go out with me tonight!” And it’s like, “No, who are you? And no I don’t have to do anything with you.” Being too aggressive is a major turnoff.
Mens Mag Daily: Do you have an ultimate goal as far as your career goes? Where do you want to be 5 years from now?
Corissa Furr: I would like to be hosting my own show of some sort, that could mean a lot of different things but definitely doing more with video and television for sure.
Mens Mag Daily: Okay Corissa, this is your time to plug anything you want, upcoming projects, websites, social media, whatever you want.
