Tips
For one to go through life as a gentleman there are some non-negotiable rules that must be followed, a code in which to live by. Today’s tip deals with, well, tipping. Tipping isn’t an option. Tipping well isn’t an option. When a gentleman is receiving a service he leaves a generous gratuity, always. He doesn’t attempt to do any sort of math to determine what the tip should be and he certainly doesn’t use any sort of app on his iPhone. A gentleman opens the check quickly to see the amount and simply rounds up to the number he would want to be tipped. He then discreetly places the cash into the check and leaves it on the table. It’s that simple yet I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen a man sit across the table from his embarrassed date while he fumbles around with the calculator on his phone, just classless. What do you think a woman’s opinion of you will be if you refuse to even leave a decent tip? She’ll assume that you’re cheap and selfish and she will likely be right. She’ll also assume that you don’t make a lot of money and it’s fine if you don’t but nobody in the world, including your date, needs to know that. It just requires planning. You know when you’re going out so put that money aside, generous tip included, so that way you barely think about or notice it. It’s been said that when you tip big you’re not throwing away money, you’re growing your legend and it’s absolutely true. When you’re a good tipper you will always get the best service which means the waiter leaving dessert off of the bill, the bartender coming to you first, and the barber making sure every haircut is perfect. Think of the alternative. You could be the guy standing at the bar for half an hour trying to get the bartender’s attention while people spill drinks all over you, the guy who’s waiter checks on his table once throughout the entire evening because he knows you’re not tipping anyway, or even the guy who the barber tries to get out of his chair as soon as possible. Do you really want to stiff a guy who is holding a straight razor to your neck? It’s all coming together now isn’t it? Another thing to take into consideration is that people in the service industry work hard and tips are their livelihood. And before you think it, I already know what card you’re about to pull. You’re going to tell me about that guy who’s a bartender at the hottest club in town on Saturday night who makes like $800 dollars in that one night while he flirts with drunk chicks and spends the rest of the week sitting on his ass. I know that guy too but for every one of him there’s a waitress with a kid at home who works sixteen hours a day just to make ends meet. With all that said, take my advice, plan ahead, and tip big. It will be worth it in the long run.
