What I’m about to say, I say wholeheartedly. Lisa Ann is perfect. I’m sure there’s a small flaw somewhere but you’d be hard-pressed to find it. I mean just looking at the woman you wonder where everybody else is going wrong. Between her gorgeous face and just unbelievable body it’s mindboggling that somebody who looks like her even exists. She’s not just hot like a porn star but is more like an amorphous blend of Sophia Lauren, Audrey Hepburn with the body of a goddess. In fact, I now have two goals in life, become a billionaire and take Lisa Ann out, but not in that order. She’s not just a pretty face, however, as talking to Lisa Ann is so normal it’s almost shocking. One would think a woman who is wanted by every man on the planet would be a little stuck-up or just downright conceited but Lisa is the exact opposite. She’s sweet, kind, and easy to talk to. Any girl who has spent 24 years in the adult entertainment industry would likely be a little worn out but Lisa grabbed the bull by the horns and made herself an institution, the most famous porn star in the world and is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down whatsoever. If porn was a kingdom then Lisa Ann would be the queen. Mens Mag Daily was able to catch up with Lisa Ann to talk about her history in the business, how she reached her current level of success, and how she stays so damn beautiful.
Mens Mag Daily: Lisa, I always wondered, why do you live in New York?
Lisa Ann: Actually, I live part-time in Los Angeles and part-time in New York. My family lives in Pennsylvania and it’s a quick trip to see them. I’m so lucky to still have them at this age. I like to go see them a lot and living in New York gives me that opportunity.
Mens Mag Daily: Now, what year did you officially start your career in the adult industry?
Lisa Ann: I started in 1990.
Mens Mag Daily: And you took a break at some point, right?
Lisa Ann: The first thing I did in the adult business was work as an exotic dancer and that’s something I’ve always done. Even when I wasn’t shooting scenes I was still on the road doing feature dancing and personal appearances.
Mens Mag Daily: Which part of your career really put you on the map so to speak? Was it when you started in 1990 or the more recent part?
Lisa Ann: For the first part I was incredibly young. We also aren’t as advanced as we are now. We didn’t have the internet. We didn’t have the style of scenes that we do now. Back then if you were a contract star you did a very limited number of movies and you were very limited in the types of scenes you did. They wanted to be able to sell it to cable so that’s why they did that. In this business a lot of the girls just come and go but I wanted to stay and that’s why it was so important that I brand myself. When I came back we had the internet and there were all these niche markets. So many things are a distinct market now like big boobs, big butts, MILF, and so many more. There are so many things you can do so you can cater to a lot of different audiences. You can kind of span across so many different things all over the world. If you’re lucky enough to have a big butt and big boobs which I do then you’re hitting all these different markets. I’m able to do so much but usually if I don’t do it in my personal life first then I won’t do it on camera. There are some things that I’ve done on camera for the first time just because my fans have wanted me to do it.
Mens Mag Daily: When you first started, did you ever think you would be the most famous porn star in the world?
Lisa Ann: Back then it was kind of like being in a garage band. You might have a small following but not everybody knew who you were. We were on VHS so we didn’t have that reach we have now where we’re on everybody’s computer. In the early 1990’s people didn’t want to be seen buying porn in a store. There was a good chance they wouldn’t even recognize you because they put so much make-up on us in the 1990’s. Very rarely would anybody approach you back then and now they’re very in your face and they want a picture for their Instagram. The whole approach is different. An 18 year old today would approach me much differently than an 18 year old would have approached me 20 years ago. For example, I was in the airport a few weeks ago and I was by myself with no security and my rule is that I don’t really take pictures when I’m alone because if I do one then I have to do a bunch and people can be really feisty and out of control. This group of 7 or 8 kids, maybe like 18 or 19 years old ran up to me and asked me for a picture and I explained to them that I didn’t have security and it could get out of hand but I was very polite about it and they told me to fuck myself and that they were never going to watch my porn again.
Mens Mag Daily: Really?
Lisa Ann: Yeah, and it’s like that so would not have happened 20 years ago. You had to be a nutjob to speak like that in public 20 years ago. We just live in a different society.
Mens Mag Daily: The funny thing is, I guarantee that they will watch your porn again.
Lisa Ann: You know, I don’t do anything at that point. When I’m on my own I’ve learned just not to engage. It’s just not worth it because then you’re inconveniencing other people. The airline people would come help me and then it would take forever to board the plane and it would just be horrific. When I’m alone I don’t dress flashy, I just stay to myself. I usually don’t fly different airlines and this time I was so I think that threw me off a little. I always fly American and they do a great job of making sure that you’re safe and comfortable.
Mens Mag Daily: So you get recognized constantly?
Lisa Ann: Yes, absolutely, constantly. It’s great when I can talk to the 70 year old cashier at CVS who has no idea what I do and we can just chop it up about gardening.
Mens Mag Daily: She just thinks you’re this pretty, pleasant lady.
Lisa Ann: Exactly and she’s probably bored at work. A nice conversation goes a long way.
Mens Mag Daily: I’m from New York so I’m curious; do you get recognized more here in NYC or in L.A.?
Lisa Ann: In New York you’re out and about more because you’re not sitting in a car for 2 to 4 hours a day sitting in traffic. You’re actually more social because you’re on the train and you’re moving around a lot. I would say it’s about equal.
Mens Mag Daily: So when you’re here in New York you just get on the train and do normal stuff?
Lisa Ann: I do and it’s really not a problem because New Yorkers aren’t as in your face as people are in other places. They’re also busy doing their own thing. If they’re sitting on the train they don’t care about you. L.A. has that more searching for celebrities vibe. In New York it’s more chill. You can roll through and be fine.
Mens Mag Daily: Do guys ever approach you not just for a picture or an autograph but to actually hit on you?
Lisa Ann: Of course.
Mens Mag Daily: And how do they go about that? Are they any good at it?
Lisa Ann: No, they’re not very good at it. I mean, I talk to everybody, I’m very friendly. But I think when guys approach me I can be a little scary and intimidating in person. I look at it like this world is my living room and everybody in it knows me and I’m going to create this world to be how I want it to be. I’m going to go out and enjoy myself because I don’t want to be a hermit. I don’t want to be a person that doesn’t interact. I just want to take a walk in the park and be normal. I told this guy on Twitter today, “Dude, I’m not a unicorn”. He saw me on a flight and he didn’t say anything but then he posted where I was going and the flight number and everything on Twitter. It’s really strange when people take pictures of you without you knowing and you go on your timeline and see a picture of yourself putting groceries in your car or something. That’s really creepy. It is a good balance though because the life I’m able to lead and all the traveling I’m able to do is because these people know me.
Mens Mag Daily: You seem much more down to earth than I expected.
Lisa Ann: I’m just a normal girl who has an extraordinary job. That’s all.
Mens Mag Daily: You must travel a lot.
Lisa Ann: Yeah I’m going to Australia next week, I love it there. I’m taking my security dude with me and we’re going to the wildlife sanctuary. You get to take pictures of koala bears, it’s incredible. I love it there. For his first trip overseas to not have a language barrier was important to me. Some people go overseas and they don’t speak the language and it’s not as much fun. Pretty girls will always be okay though because people will go out of their way to help but guys don’t have that luxury. Traveling can be hard though. There are times when I want to watch the game from my own bed and make my own food.
Mens Mag Daily: So you lead a pretty normal life?
Lisa Ann: It’s incredibly normal. I love sitting around with those couple of real friends and just talking forever. I’ll just forget about my Twitter for a while and I remember that I have to catch up but you have to realize that sometimes it’s okay to just let it go for a while, get to it later, and that’s okay.
Mens Mag Daily: After all these years are you still enjoying what you’re doing in terms of shooting scenes and everything?
Lisa Ann: I love it more now that I don’t shoot as many scenes so I get to be choosier and work with the companies I know that are really systematic and organized. I also have my own production company which is Lisa Ann productions and I do all the content on my website. I kind of get to control what’s going on and make sure everything is running smoothly because when I was really grinding and doing a lot of scenes I loved to work with people like that. I liked when everybody was on time and everything was organized. I don’t have time to sit around all day with people doing drugs or drinking on set. That’s what you do on your own time not when you’re working. When you first start you work for everybody and you work through a lot of shit in this business. Even at strip clubs, there are strip clubs where you’re praying that you save enough money so that you don’t ever have to work for them again. Then there are some who you can’t wait to work for again.
Mens Mag Daily: What’s your dating life like?
Lisa Ann: It’s actually incredibly exciting. You just have to be honest. I don’t date guys that are married. I’m not exclusive with anybody. I’m very open with them and they know I shoot scenes. When I’m shooting scenes I don’t want to be in a one on one relationship. It just doesn’t work for me. I want to feel free when I’m on set to enjoy that day. I don’t want to feel guilty about enjoying a scene. I want to go on the road and feel guilty because I meet a hot guy. Who wants to do that? I’m in a room with 95% men and there might be a good looking one there. I’ve been in 8 to 10 year sexual relationships with guys. We take trips together and we have fun. They might get a girlfriend and we won’t see each other for a while. They might break up with the girlfriend and we’ll hang out again. It’s just very simple. They become really important people in my life but nothing exclusive. It’s just not for me. I was in a relationship for 7 years and it wasn’t for me. I like moving freely right now and doing what I want to do. I’m sure one day that will change. I travel all the time and having to check in with someone would be a nightmare. I have privacy with all of them. A lot of them are athletes. They have a lot of freedom. It’s my private life and I can just chill and nobody knows who I’m with or what I’m doing.
Mens Mag Daily: You seem to have a pretty badass life.
Lisa Ann: I travel around. I have a fantasy sports show on Sirius XM 210, it’s called Lisa Ann Does Fantasy. I do football and basketball and I’ve always loved sports. It’s so adventurous and exciting. There’s something about being next to someone who’s in such a successful and powerful place in their life and I don’t need money, gifts, or anything from them. It’s just a reminder that you can do anything you want to do.
Mens Mag Daily: Do you only date famous athletes?
Lisa Ann: Not only, I have a lot of guys in my life who are regular dudes. I’ve been seeing one civilian since I was 30 years old. We’ll go on trips, it’s super fun. I find civilians might get a little more attached than regular guys which I’m not really into.
Mens Mag Daily: So what’s your favorite sport?
Lisa Ann: Basketball, definitely and my second is football.
Mens Mag Daily: Who are your teams?
Lisa Ann: I’m more of a player fan. I watch 8 teams religiously. I’m into the Knicks, Heat, Lakers, Clippers, so that’s how the NBA works for me.
Mens Mag Daily: Who do you think is going to win the finals?
Lisa Ann: I have to watch game one to see what happens. They’re both equally rested. The Spurs are great but LeBron is the hardest working player on the court so he always has a chance to go all the way.
Mens Mag Daily: That’s a pretty good analysis. Maybe they’ll put you on ESPN one day.
Lisa Ann: I’m still trying but don’t you worry, I will be on TV talking sports someday soon.
Mens Mag Daily: I’ve noticed you’ve done some hip-hop related interviews, I saw you on Thisis50.
Lisa Ann: I do tons of hip-hop stuff. Porn and the hip-hop community go hand in hand. I’ve always gone to hip-hop shows and just had an awesome time. It’s just really fun for me. I was also in Eminem’s video.
Mens Mag Daily: That’s right. You were in We Made You.
Lisa Ann: Yup, a lot of hip-hop guys love me because I have the big butt, I have real hair, and I’m not a hooker so they don’t meet many girls like me.
Mens Mag Daily: And you grew up in Pennsylvania, right Lisa?
Lisa Ann: Yup.
Mens Mag Daily: And what was that like, just a normal
upbringing?
Lisa Ann: Yeah it was definitely normal but if you have a lot of spirit you can get bored seeing the same people all the time which I did as it was a small town. It made me feel a little trapped. I remember watching 90210 and being jealous because they went to school outside and the weather was always so nice. I just couldn’t wait to get out there and see and I knew I wouldn’t be there my whole life. I love going out there now especially in the summer because it’s so green and the lakes are nice. There are flowers and it’s clean but I couldn’t see myself living there, although your money does go very far in a small town.
Mens Mag Daily: That is absolutely true.
Lisa Ann: I look at like real estate magazines and there will be this huge home for nothing.
Mens Mag Daily: Or when you’re in Times Square and a pack of cigarettes is 13 bucks.
Lisa Ann: I quit smoking when I moved to New York. I was so guarded with them.
Mens Mag Daily: So how many states have you been to?
Lisa Ann: Every state, except Alaska. But being that I played the governor of Alaska, don’t you think I should have been there by now?
Mens Mag Daily: You know what? I think it’s a social responsibility for you to go to Alaska at this point.
Lisa Ann: I’m going to plan a trip there this year. That’s like the most beautiful sightseeing vacation ever.
Mens Mag Daily: Have you ever been to a place you loved so much you wanted to move there?
Lisa Ann: Yeah, like a million places but where you live becomes more about the people than the actual place. You miss your friends so much and it’s great to see them face to face. There are places that are great to retire and you can travel anywhere from. As crazy as it sounds I love Milwaukee. I couldn’t do the winters there but I would just fly down to Florida. Everything in New York and L.A. is just so expensive.
Mens Mag Daily: When you’re born and raised in New York like me you kind of just give up and accept that everything is expensive.
Lisa Ann: I think you learn that you don’t need as much stuff or as much space. You’re also out more because you don’t have as much space.
Mens Mag Daily: So you are the most famous porn star like ever, right?
Lisa Ann: I mean I had somebody tell me the other day that I wasn’t and that I couldn’t be on top forever and I told him he was out of his mind. (Laughs) I think it’s important for me because there are so many new people coming into the industry so it’s kind of like a social responsibility for me to give them advice if they ask for it. It also keeps me in check and stuff at events. It lets me know that my name has some clout which is a good feeling.
Mens Mag Daily: I also have to tell you, you’re not just porn star hot, you are absolutely classically beautiful.
Lisa Ann: You know when I was younger, like 21, I had a guy tell me I would be prettier much later on in life and I was bummed out because I thought he didn’t think I was pretty then. (Laughs) I heard that voice as I started getting older. I think I project a different energy. There’s no in between with some of these girls. They show up in dirty sweatpants and then get all made up. They don’t understand you can look pretty and soft with light make-up.
Mens Mag Daily: But your beauty is weird. It’s like Benjamin Button, you just keep getting hotter.
Lisa Ann: That’s a great analogy. (Laughs) Thank you. I’m happy that I can be attractive at this age, I just turned 42. When I was younger I thought 42 was old but it’s nothing, believe me. Life gets easier. Less bothers you and you just do your own thing.
Mens Mag Daily: Okay Lisa, I’m especially ashamed asking you this question but my readers voted this question in so I have to do it. What is your favorite sexual position?
Lisa Ann: Oh my God, you guys couldn’t think of a better question than that? It’s doggie but let’s come up with a better question for your future interviews. Like, what can a guy do that will guarantee that he turns a girl on? I’m not going to answer though because I already gave you doggie. (Laughs) I’m going to read everything you write from now on to make sure you ask that question.
